This Sunday saw the final of the Woodley Sports Spring Classic, 2024 prestigious Crown Green Bowling competition, and what a day of awesome bowling it was! Spectators were awed and delighted by some incredibly precise drawn shots and a healthy addition of thrilling, on-target, strikes. It was an incredibly tough field with a good number of very close games, but ultimately Shropshire’s Callum Wraight emerged victorious and took away £650 in prize money plus the prestigious Woodley Sports Spring Classic trophy.

Speaking after the event, Woodley Sports Chairperson, Gail Knowles, said she was delighted to see Callum win in her final year running the competition since, during the 35 years she has been involved, 25 of them running the competition, she has seen Callum enter 18 times and get to the final 3 times, twice with a 21-20 defeat. Gail also shared that a successor has been found to continue running the famous annual event and we can all look forward to seeing the Spring Classic return for it’s 36th season next year.
